The journey began in 2013 with a passion project, designing a friend’s retail space. This was a time before the convenience of smartphones and social media; inspiration was gathered from interior design magazines and early Pinterest boards on a desktop with a slow broadband connection.
From the very beginning, Tiwana’s approach to design was eclectic and deeply rooted in craftsmanship. He sought out artisans working in wood, textiles, metal casting, and other traditional manufacturing techniques, such as Goodyear-welting of shoes. These encounters opened a window into India’s rich heritage of craft, a legacy shaped by generations of artisans who adapted global techniques after independence and found appreciation in international markets.
As design trends shifted in the 21st century toward minimalism and mass production, Tiwana noticed a gradual decline in traditional skills and artistry. With an old-school soul, he felt drawn to objects and spaces that carry the imprint of human hands, pieces created with care rather than mass-produced uniformity.
Over the past decade, Tiwana has travelled extensively across India and Europe, exploring heritage sites, studying architecture, and sourcing prototypes from flea markets, pawn shops, and antique dealers. Each experience shaped his design sensibility. His interior design projects are not about imposing a single style; they reflect the personalities of the people who live in them. By listening closely, shaping functional layouts, and curating meaningful details, Tiwana creates spaces that feel personal, timeless, and alive.
The team at Tiwana Amar operates under the same philosophy: helping clients refine their ideas, synchronise colour palettes, and select pieces that make a space truly their own.
Our Mission is to preserve and celebrate craftsmanship by curating meaningful, handcrafted pieces with artistic value and bringing them into contemporary living spaces. Through our online store, we want to make it easier for people to access designs that carry history, soul, and a human touch.
Our Vision is to inspire people to create unique, character-filled corners in their homes, spaces that reflect individuality rather than trends. We envision a future where artistry and heritage techniques continue to thrive, bridging the past with the present, and where every object tells a story worth keeping.
